Operation of the Radio

  •  To turn on the radio, Rotate the top knob on the right side.  This also adjusts the volume.  You will hear the channel number that the radio is tuned to.
  • To select the channel, rotate the knob on the left.  The radio will say the number of the channel you select.  Channel One is Pelican Bay.  Channel eight is Vista Pointe, the channel that we use for our Meetings-On-Air.
  • On the side of the radio at the top is a blue button.  Do not touch this button unless you want to disengage the repeater and talk on Talk Around (TA).  When you are on Talk Around, only radios close to you can hear you....like a walkie-talkie.  To engage the repeater again, simply press the button again.
  • The rectangular button on the side is the Push-To-Talk button. Depress, wait a second, then start speaking into the face of the radio about 3 or 4 inches from your mouth.  Hold the button down while you speak.  When through, say "over" and then let the button up.
  • The upper-most button on the side bottom is the SCAN button.  When you depress this button, you scan all sixteen channels.
  • The lower button on the side bottom will check your battery.  1 beep.......low battery                                                                         2 beeps.....medium battery                                                                     3 beeps.....high battery
